Throughout her career, Jasmine has competed successfully in affiliated show jumping and advanced dressage, combining a wealth of practical knowledge with a genuine passion for bringing out the very best in every horse and rider she works with.
A true advocate for horse welfare in sport, Jasmine champions ethical, patient training methods that build trust, confidence, and harmony. Her calm, methodical approach has earned her a reputation as a time-served trainer who can nurture young horses from their first steps under saddle through to competing with confidence and balance.
Having bounced round a hunter trial in the womb on what would become Jasmine’s first jumping pony, Bomsy, riding was in her blood from the earliest opportunity. Sitting on her lead rein pony Brandy as a baby and competing in lead rein classes at just 2 years old meant Jasmine’s riding days began before she can remember.
Jasmine’s Show jumping career started at the age of 9 when she got Bomsy back from his loan home as her first jumping pony. The 2 of them had a lot of success and competed at the Royal International Horse Show and Horse of the Year Show being placed at both and won numerous other major titles. They represented England 3 times also winning Bronze, Silver and Gold medals.
After Bomsy retired, Jasmine took on Shades of Shalimar (Lucky) a 14.2hh homebred novice pony. This was another successful partnership and the pony quickly upgraded to JA. Competing in her first Christy (the biggest of the 148cm tracks then) she was placed 3rd and was going from strength to strength. Unfortunately, tragedy struck and Lucky was put to sleep due to sudden illness leaving Jasmine with no pony to compete and the whole family devastated. After some time off the family found the pony Greenbank Dessie Dee who had only won a small amount in affiliated jumping but had done working hunter and was known for jumping puissance classes. She was only small and strong to ride but quickly progressed and qualified for the Newcomer and Foxhunter finals at HOYS and also the JC final at the Royal International where she was placed. The combination had many wins including a 2 fence challenge where she cleared 1.50m.
In 2005 a friend bought a youngster to do dressage and eventing. He turned out to be unsuitable and had a little too much attitude having bucked people off, broken a fellow riders leg bucking out on a ride and just generally being very difficult.
Jasmine was asked to ride him to sell as a show jumper as he seemed keen over fences but far too exuberant for his owner. This was Prince aka Quill, he was quirky but careful and quickly started jumping double clears so Jasmine bought him to compete and had many successes up to 1.30m level show jumping.
Out of the pony jumper Greenbank Dessie Dee and the family owned hannoverian stallion Costalot, Jasmine bred Deeva and Dinky Deeva. As a young horse Deeva had some successful outings show jumping and qualified for the British Novice National final. As she was smaller in size Jasmine also started to compete in dressage and was bitten by the bug to pursue dressage training in much more depth. Even with weekly training with Grand Prix rider Angela Crane and having qualified for the National Finals at Hartpury Jasmine wanted to learn more and gain a deeper understanding of dressage. In 2016 she moved away and spent time working at Woodlander Stud as a rider backing and producing young horses ready for their dressage careers.
Following that placement Jasmine took a role at Louise Davison’s yard in Tamworth where she was able to watch training by the likes of Carl Hester and Conrad Schumacher working with a huge variety of horses. Jasmine was fortunate to get to work first hand with Gillian Higgins of Horses Inside Out and get hands on experience of using her Pilates for horses and ground work exercises to develop the horses core strength.
It was also informative to listen to the consultations with well respected vet Jane Nixon MA VET MB BSc MRCVS, who would advise on the horse’s shoeing for performance at both Woodlander and Louise Davisons yard.
Unfortunately family illness forced Jasmine’s return home but Jasmine has continued to train and further her understanding of horsemanship and dressage with regular lessons, undertaking professional qualifications in both show jump coaching and dressage coaching, judge training and a variety of other courses in horse body work, Bowen therapy for both humans and horses, saddle fitting and training methods such as TRT.
For many years the facilities at home had been in need of updating and in 2011 Jasmine had invested heavily in having the outdoor arena completely renovated but deteriorating weather conditions made the long term ambition of an indoor arena more of a necessity for consistent training.
Plans were submitted for a large modern indoor arena with adjoining stables to allow for the delivery of year round training of competition horses.
Over the next few years the task of financing, organising and building the facility took over the focus from competing but it was worth it to now have such a wonderful facility and base to grow the team from.
Now Jasmine has horses in training at a variety of levels as well as some youngstock waiting in the wings.
Now looking to expand the horsepower and talent this is an exciting time for potential owners to place a horse here for training, sales or competition livery but Jasmine is equally interested in long term owners and investors who simply want to be part of a team and see their horses develop through to Grand Prix level with a kind trainer who works ethically at all times.
Jasmine also recently qualified as a British Dressage recognised level 2 coach.
